DogAdopt is an app that allows you to search a database of available dogs in your area or any area you specify. It's also an app for dog owners, shelters, and rescues that have to find a new home for their dog and don't want to invest a lot of time and money doing so. And finally, it serves as an advertising medium for dog shelters, clubs, and other organizations that want to get the word out to the smartphone-enabled public about the terrific dogs in their care!

What is DogAdopt not?

Sorry, but DogAdopt is not to be used by commercial or for-profit breeders.

How does DogAdopt work?

It's very simple. First, a listing is created for a dog either by an individual or an organization (such as a shelter, rescue, or a dog club) and added to our database. This profile includes basic information about the dog, as well as a short bio and a picture--all handled through the app. Next, people looking for a furry companion browse the database based location, breed, and a few other factors. If someone is interested in a dog, they contact the dog's owner through the application. The owner then gets an email containing the interested party's contact information and message, enabling them to get in touch.

How much does it cost?

DogAdopt is completely free to use while we're still in beta, which should continue for at least the next several months. Once the full version is released, it will still be completely free to download; however, a nominal fee will be charged to create more than one listing. We also plan in including a subscription option if you want the ability to advertise a large number of dogs on a regular basis. When will the full version of DogAdopt be available?

While we're in beta, we are going to be making changes to the app based on the feedback we get. Once we, and more importantly our users, are satisfied, we'll update to a full release. DogAdopt users will definitely get advanced notice of this event.

What device do I need to use DogAdopt?

Most smartphones running the Android^TM operating system (version 2.1 or greater) are able to download and use the app. We're working on developing an iPhone^TM version of the app. Let us know if you want to see a version for a specific device.
